District 5 League President’s Meeting

The regular monthly District 5 League Presidents met on Sunday, June 11, 2006, at Thunderbird Little League with regular chair Camilla Serrano presiding and recording secretary Chris Hughes.

Introductions were made around the table.

Safety Plans – All leagues have their plans in except Atrisco Valley.  Mile High still has a few points to correct for it to be approved.  The points to correct were given to Bill.

Elections – Once your league has had your elections and your new board has elected their positions, please email Camilla a copy with a list of positions, names, phone numbers, and email addresses.

Fall Ball – Zia will host Fall Ball.  Brian will email a flyer, Fall Ball guidelines, and a registration form to Camilla to post on the website.  Next year’s league age will be used.

In order to host a state tournament your city must have sufficient hotel accommodations for all teams and officials, and provide a list of qualified umpires that have been trained by a regional umpire trainer.  No umpire will be allowed to umpire more than two games per day.

Tournament Enrollment forms must be post marked by June 15, 2006.  The President and Vice President must sign.  I hope that you have run your background checks.

Affidavits – All affidavits will be mailed to you.  Camilla went over in detail the proper way to fill out affidavits.  Please read it.  Fill out the Tournament Verification Checklist and bring it with your affidavit for approval.  In addition, a league boundary map must accompany your affidavit.  The map must be marked by numbers that apply to each player’s residence.  II (d) or IV (h) forms must accompany your affidavit.  Players that play in other youth programs must stop once the tournament begins.  Any manager or coach that has coached another youth program is ineligible to coach a tournament team unless you applied for a waiver.  Waivers needed to be approved by June 3, 2006.  A medical release form should accompany your affidavit.  Affidavits will be approved at Mile High on the following dates:

District 5 umpire clinic will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2006, at Manzano Mesa Community Center from 9-2.  Lunch will be provided.  Please send anyone who would like to be certified to umpire state tournaments.

Managers/Coaches meetings will be on Saturday, June 24, 2006, at Manzano Mesa Community Center.  Softball begins at noon and baseball will be at 1:00 PM in room 4.

Camilla asked all leagues which divisions they would be entering tournament teams in.

District Tournaments

All softball games will be hosted at East Mountain.  Tournaments will begin July 1, 2006, and end July 8, 2006.  No play on the 4^th.  All baseball games will be hosted at Zia and will run from July 8, 2006, through July 19, 2006.
